ESOL - English for Speakers of Other Languages at John Pounds Centre

One of the best way to learn or improve your English is to take an English for Speakers of Other Languages course, often known as ESOL.

These courses are designed specifically for people resident or settled in the UK and for whom English is not their first language. Focused on preparing learners for everyday life, further education and the world of work.

Our Courses

ESOL Courses are focused on practical language to help you in everyday life. All our courses take place in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

Course Overview

This course is for students whose first language is not English and the levels range from Beginners to Pre-Intermediate. It consists of one evening class a week of 2 hours (with a break of 10 minutes), for a total of 10 weeks which is ideal for those with various commitments or working full-time.

Course Content

The course covers a wide range of topics that will help you to boost your confidence when communicating in English. The course also will develop your speaking, reading, writing and listening skills as well as spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Course Level

The course teacher will assess your level of English in the first lesson and work from there to improve your skills. Your class will include people who have different level of English to you and from different countries.

Course Materials

We provide handouts and other materials to work on during the course.

Tutor information

All our language courses are taught by qualified native speakers with broad teaching experience and a passion to teach their language and culture.

Certificate

As we are Trinity Listed Education Agent and Registered Exam Centre we can prepare you to take Trinity College exams.

Trinity's ESOL Skills for Life qualifications are designed to aid progression and access into mainstream education and employment paths where English language skills are a requirement.

These qualifications are for adults aged 16 and over living in the UK who need English language skills for everyday life, for study and for employment.
